Reviews of new products
Whenever I open a hobby box of a new product I will be inputting my feedback on how I rate it. I will give detailed information on how I feel the product gives back based on how much you have to pay for a box. I do enjoy opening boxes and if I like a product I usually end up buying a case of it.
2010 Sportkings
I purchased a box of this product because of the hype of pulling some pretty cool cards out of it. I was a little disappointed with the product but for the price it wasn't too bad. I'd personally prefer to pay around a 100.00 and get one decent hit if I don't pull a rare card than pay 250-300.00 and get six so so hits. With any product the chance of pulling those rare valuable cards are very hard to pull without opening cases so all in all I rate this product a B only because the price is reasonable and there are chances to pull some nice cards. I didnt pull a nice card out of my box unfortunately just an event worn soccer player card. With the chance of pulling some sick cards and the price being reasonable I rate this product a go out and try for sure.
2010 Bowman
With the prices of boxes for 2010 Bowman being so expensive I decided to just open three packs of this product. I purchased three packs of 2010 Bowman with the chance to hit a Strasburg or Heyward rookie card. Believe it or not one of my three packs I pulled a Jason Heyward blue border rookie card limited to 550! I was pretty surprised since I only bought three packs to pull something like this. The card looks in excellent condition with sharp corners and edges and near perfect if not perfect centering. Since I only bought three packs I cannot give an accurate recommendation for this product but if the price goes down I would definately consider buying more of this product in the future.
2010 Allen and Ginter
I recently purchased a box of 2010 Allen and Ginter retail price at my local card shop for 124.00 plus tax and unfortunately didnt pull anything big like a rip or cut auto card. My biggest pull out of that box was a Bazooka back Tim Lincecum mini hand numbered 23/25. I recently sold it on ebay for 41.00. The cards look similiar to the past two versions with some unique hits coming up on ebay like goldilocks piece of blonde hair and Beethovens hair relic. I would say if your lucky enough to pull a cut auto or Strausburg rookie card you would be hapy spending this money but unless you get a good deal on a box somewhere the 124.00 price for one of these boxes is too high for the lack of an average return from this product.
2009 Razor cut signature National Edition
This product was made for the National Sports Collectors Convention as a new product for people who attended this convention. Soon hobby stores were able to get their hands on them and sell to the public and this is how I received my box. In each box contains a cut auto of a celebrity or sports figure. You only get one encapsulated card per box but even so for a collector like me who ends up throwing all the base cards away this kind of product is right up my alley. I pulled a 1/1 masterpiece auto of t.v. and movie legend John Lithgow cut from one of his tax statements. :) A truly unique autograph collectible thats for sure. All in all its a fun product to open and guarantees one big hit without all the useless extra cardboard. I would give this product a 8-10 just because of the lack of valuable autos in this product.
2009 Topps Unique
I purchased one box of 2010 Topps unique trying to pull one of the bat knob cards or one of the jumbo relic cards. I didnt unfortunately but did pull one auto of Joba Chamberlain and two game used cards. For the price I paid it wasnt anything special like most products out during this time. Either you will hit something big or miss and not be able to make half your money back selling what you pulled on ebay. That is the thrill of buying hobby boxes though either you pull something really cool or nothing cool at all usually. I would not buy another box of this product personally just because the odds of pulling one of the cool cards is tough and even if you pull one the chances of pulling a great player like Jeter or A-rod are slim and more likely to pull a no name prospect. I would recommend saving your money and not buying this product unless you like to pull game used cards of semi stars.
2008 Donruss Elite Extra Edition
I stopped by my local card shop and bought a box of 2008 Donruss Elite extra edition as I have never opened this product before and was on a decent sale price. The product says you get four hits per box and in my box I actually got 5 hits. I got five autograph rookie cards with one of them being a college commemorative patch auto signed on the patch. All in all this was a fun product to open and would rate it 10-10 based on how much you pay and how much you get out of the product. This is definately a must buy for all those rookie card collectors and non rookie card collectors hoping to pull a valuable rookie auto.
